HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Behind the scenes at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center, volunteers were hard at work preparing hundreds of plates for the Salvation Army’s 53rd annual Thanksgiving dinner.
It’s a tradition that brings together hundreds of people across the community.
Leading up to the event, the Royal Hawaiian Band warmed up, and the maile lei was already being untied in preparation for the crowd. Once the doors opened, guests stepped inside for what for some was their first and only Thanksgiving meal of the year.
“It’s a blessing. Yeah, for people who don’t have like a lot of support. It makes you feel very special,” said attendee Karley Robles.
