State Sen. Faith Winter, a Democrat from Broomfield and mother of two, died in a multi-vehicle crash south of Denver on Wednesday night. The collision occurred around 6 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 25 near Dry Creek Road. Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Deputy John Bartmann reported three injuries and one fatality in the five-vehicle incident, with the cause still under investigation. The Colorado Sun confirmed Winter’s death, later corroborated by her family and leading Democrats at the Capitol. Winter, 45, was engaged to former state Rep. Matt Gray. She was known for advocating transit and chaired the Senate Transportation and Energy Committee, nearing the end of her tenure due to term limits.
