FRISCO, Texas — Old Dominion women’s basketball couldn’t sustain an early spark Thursday, falling 84-46 to undefeated Oregon in the final game of the 2025 Women’s Hoopfest Challenge.
“All losses are tough to experience but the growth that is coming from this will build championship character that will serve us in a major way within conference play,” head coach DeLisha Milton-Jones said. “It was a great holiday tournament filled with great teams.”
The Monarchs (5-3) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opening two minutes behind a Simone Cunningham layup and a pull-up jumper from Kelsey Thompson. But Oregon (8-0) quickly settled in, taking the lead on a Katie Fiso fastbreak layup and ending the first quarter ahead 20-11 after a late three from Sofia Bell and free throws by Ehis Etute.
