MURRAY – Playhouse in the Park obviously has a sterling reputation in the Murray/Calloway County community, but the nonprofit community theater is also making a name for itself statewide after winning the top prize at the 2025 Kentucky Theatre Association (KTA) State Conference last weekend.

“ I took a group of five actors to Lexington last weekend for KTA, and we won,” Playhouse Executive Director Wayne Shields-Hogue said. “We came in first, so we're the only theater progressing to the regional competition at the Southeastern Theatre Conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to represent the state of Kentucky. We’ll be headed there the first weekend of March. This entire production team poured their hearts into this show, and it paid off.”
