The Boston Red Sox are preparing for what could be one of their biggest offseasons in years. The team reached the postseason in 2025 but fell to their rivals, the New York Yankees, in the Wild Card game. However, the front office believes this roster is only a few key pieces away from becoming a true title contender. With money to spend and a star-studded free agent class available, the Red Sox are exploring several major upgrades for 2026.

According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, Boston is considering adding up to two of five major free agent bats in an effort to bolster the lineup. The list includes Kyle Schwarber, Pete Alonso, Kazuma Okamoto, J.T. Realmuto, and Alex Bregman.
