BRUNSWICK, Ohio – Just two years ago, construction for a new Interstate 71 interchange at the Brunswick-Strongsville border ordered under a then-state law was estimated to cost $28.6 million to $51 million , plus unspecified land acquisition costs.

Now under a new state law that repealed the previous law, the early results of a state-ordered study indicate that traffic in the area isn’t nearly as bad as believed.

The end result of the study could be smaller-scale tweaks to fix congestion in the I-71 corridor through Brunswick, Strongsville and North Royalton - not a full-scale interchange.
