NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - An apartment complex in East Nashville was damaged in a Thanksgiving Day fire, according to the Nashville Fire Department.
Crews responded to Douglas Avenue near Pennock Avenue at around 7:45 p.m. on Thursday for reports of a fire.
NFD said firefighters entered the building and had to kick in the door to an unoccupied unit while fighting the blaze. Several people were also evacuated.
NFD believes the fire possibly started with an outdoor fire pit on the roof.
Two units, which were being used as Airbnbs, were heavily damaged by water and fire and will need to be gutted.
The roof was burned in the blaze, but the building is not a total loss. NFD said 30 - 40% of the building was damaged in the fire.
