More than 25 firefighters tackled a blaze at a cigarette smoker ’s flat in west London.
Fifteen people were evacuated as flames destroyed part of a ground floor apartment in an end of terrace house on St Luke’s Road, Notting Hill .
One woman was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service suffering from burns.
The blaze is believed to have been accidental, caused by unsafe use of smoking materials , London Fire Brigade said.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire at around 11am on Thursday.
A spokesman added: “If you’re a smoker , it’s absolutely vital you ensure your cigarette is completely out when you’ve finished smoking it.
“If you don’t, you risk causing a fire which could not only destroy your home but also cost you your life.
