A reported casualty on a Nottinghamshire rail track has been confirmed to be a teenage boy who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 14-year-old, who has been named only as Josh, was fatally struck by a train in Burton Joyce, near Nottingham , just after 7pm on Wednesday.
Paramedics attended the scene, near the village’s rail station, but could not save him.
Floral tributes were laid at a railway crossing a few minutes’ walk from the station which connects the village to the banks of the river Trent.
‘Rest in peace Josh. You will be missed by many’, read a note attached to one bouquet.
‘Sending all our love to your family and friends. You will always be a bright star.’
Detectives are not treating the incident as suspicious, though it’s expected that an inquest will be held.
