Porfirio Gonzalez, a tennis professional and coach at the Yuma Golf and Country Club, has gone above and beyond in making tennis accessible and fun for people all over Yuma, and has done so with a down-to-earth approach that is welcoming and encouraging.
Gonzalez has lived in Yuma for three decades, building a life that spans countries and communities. Originally from Mexico City, he spends most of the year in Yuma, although he and his wife spend the summers in his wife’s country of Canada. As soon as the weather cools down, however, he is here, helping people achieve their goals in the sport of tennis.
“I love getting people into the sport,” said Gonzalez. “I love tennis and making a difference in their lives.”
