LOUISVILLE, Ky. — On a day when most families were busy with traditions, a Louisville family spent its Thanksgiving a little differently.
It all started with a Christmas miracle.
“We didn't know how Christmas was going to happen and food,” Eric Pohler said. “We opened up our front door around Christmas time, and there were bags and bags of gifts. I don't know who did it. To this day, I [don’t know] who did it.”
It was an act of kindness that stayed with Pohler.
"Somebody helped us out back in the day, and I told the wife and the kids that one day, I want to give back," he said. "And now, it's our turn."
Pohler, his wife Debbie and daughter Courtney spent Thanksgiving in the kitchen at the Ronald McDonald House, taking care of dinner for families staying overnight.
