The federal government is providing $1.1 million for five separate tourism-related projects on the province’s west coast.

Corner Brook MHA, and former mayor, Jim Parsons was on hand along with Parliamentary Secretary Kody Blois for the announcement at Marble Mountain yesterday.

Funding was provided to a number of groups involved in tourism development, including the city of Corner Brook, the Western Sno-Riders, Cabox Geopark and the West Coast Cycling Association.

He says the announcement included core funding for things such as the creation of a Geopark in the Bay of Islands, trail development, a new ATV and snowmobile link between Corner Brook, Marble and Steady Brook, as well as a mountain biking trail.
