Black Friday may not be the shop-till-you-drop event it has been in the past, but that did not stop shoppers from heading out to Louisville area malls to snag deep discounts on items for the holiday shopping season.

A record 186.9 million people are planning to shop now through Cyber Monday this year, according to a consumer survey from the National Retail Federation and Prosper Insights & Analytics.

That figure is up more than 3 million total shoppers from the previous record last year of 183.4 million, according to the NRF.
