DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Thousands of people worked up an appetite Thursday morning in Davenport, running in the 39th annual YMCA Turkey Trot.
Event organizers said they had a record number of registrations this year, with over 3,100 people signing up.
It’s the biggest fundraiser for the YMCA all year, and people look forward to it every year, according to event organizers.
“This is a really good outlet for people to get that fitness in before they feast, run for their dinner, while supporting good causes,” said Taylor Bley, director of marketing and communications for YMCA Iowa Mississippi Valley.
The YMCA holds Turkey Trots across the country, in a tradition that started in Buffalo in the 1800s.
