Syracuse, N.Y. - Police have identified the victim of Wednesday night’s fatal shooting on Syracuse’s Near Westside.
Eddie Washington Jr., 40, of Syracuse, died at Upstate University Hospital after he was found outside the James Geddes Housing complex with gunshot wounds to the head and chest, according to Syracuse police spokesperson Sgt. Thomas Blake.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert at the 300 block of Tully Street at around 9:36 p.m. Wednesday.
When they arrived, a man was found near 317 Tully St. unconscious and not breathing, according to Onondaga County 911 dispatches.
Two vehicles were also hit by gunfire.
Tully Street was closed from Wyoming Street to Tioga Street for several hours.
