Is today Lane Kiffin's last game as Mississippi football coach? A decision on the Rebels coach's future is expected Saturday, after today's Egg Bowl vs. Mississippi State.
While Kiffin remains the top headline, the stakes of the actual game couldn't be bigger for Ole Miss: Win and it's in the College Football Playoff. Lose, and the CFP will evade the Rebels for another year.

7:31 4Q: Ole Miss defense gets 4th down stop
Kamario Taylor tried to sneak for a first down on fourth down at midfield and the Rebels holds for a turnover on downs. That should do it. OLE MISS 38, MISSISSIPPI STATE 19.
9:50 4Q: Trinidad Chambliss tosses his fourth TD
Deuce Alexander goes 88 yards for a back-breaking touchdown for the Rebels. Trinidad Chambliss with another perfectly thrown pass, giving him four touchdowns and 359 passing yards today. OLE MISS 38, MISSISSIPPI STATE 19.
10:40 4Q: Let us introduce you to Kamario Taylor
Making his first start, true freshman QB Kamario Taylor is looking electric in the run game. Taylor has 144 rushing yards and his 35-yard touchdown run gives MSU renewed life. OLE MISS 31, MISSISSIPPI STATE 19.
13:46 4Q: Another sick TD grab from De'Zhaun Stribling
De'Zhaun Stribling with his second touchdown of the game, this one from 23 yards out, and again Stribling is able to get the one foot down required, just like in the first half. Beautiful throw from Trinidad Chambliss, even better catch... on 3rd-and-10 with the Bulldogs trying to keep it a two-score game. Alas. OLE MISS 31, MISSISSIPPI STATE 13.
END 3Q: Ole Miss 24, Mississippi State 13
The Bulldogs defense has been decent today, as has MSU freshman QB Kamario Taylor, but too many empty possessions have allowed the Rebels to take control of the game. Ole Miss driving for the kill shot right now. Will be 2nd-and-5 at the MSU-29 yard line to start the fourth quarter.
6:43 3Q: We're trading field goals
A defensive holding and a personal foul-hands to the face call help power the Rebels' response. But on third down, Harrison Wallace III drops a catchable pass that would have kept the drive alive. Lucas Carneiro connects on a 43-yard field, squeezing it in to put Ole Miss back up two scores. OLE MISS 24, MISSISSIPPI STATE 13.
10:01 3Q: Long MSU drive ends in points
Mississippi State opens second half with a 12-yard drive that ends in points. Jeff Lebby thought about going for it on fourth down, instead opted for a Kyle Ferrie 36-yard ffield goal attempt. It just sneaks in the upright. OLE MISS 21, MISSISSIPPI STATE 13.
HALFTIME: Ole Miss 21, Mississippi State 10
A fun first half. Even had a fight, which Lane Kiffin was asked about on his way off the field:
"We're trying to play clean football," he told ABC's broadcast. "For a whole sideline try to fight and leave their whole sideline, including their athletic director, I've never seen anything like it. So I'm just trying to remind (the refs), we're just trying to play football here. We're not trying to start a fight, so our university can get credit for fighting people... Our guys stayed on the side line like they're supposed to."
0:12 2Q: Trinidad Chambliss puts on 2-minute clinic
This drive to close the half was brought to you by Trinidad Chambliss. The Ole Miss QB completed 6-of-7 passes for 67 yards in a perfect 2-minute drill. Chambliss capped it off with a back-shoulder toss to De'Zhaun Stribling who gets a foot down for the touchdown. OLE MISS 21, MISSISSIPPI STATE 10.
1:45 2Q: Mississippi State adds a field goal
Kyle Ferrie connects from 40 yards out to get the Bulldogs closer. OLE MISS 14, MISSISSIPPI STATE 10.
2:00 2Q: Bulldogs threatening before the half
Mississippi State's defense has forced three straight punts from the high-powered Rebels offense. And a 43-yard run by MSU's Fluff Bothwell has the Bulldogs cooking as the first half nears a close. OLE MISS 14, MISSISSIPPI STATE 7.
3:28 2Q: Fumble call overruled, no ejections
Despite punches being thrown in the fracas, there are no ejections. Also, the fumble call is overturned. Ole Miss has the ball back. OLE MISS 14, MISSISSIPPI STATE 7.
3:28 2Q: Fumble — and a fight!
Trinidad Chambliss' hand is hit, and he fumbles. The Bulldogs recover. After that, we've got some pushing and shoving and players from both benches come onto the field and penalty flags are everywhere. Fumble call is being reviewed. OLE MISS 14, MISSISSIPPI STATE 7.
7:06 2Q: Punting contest has broken out
Make that four straight punts. And we were having so much fun. Ole Miss will start drive at their own 14-yard line. OLE MISS 14, MISSISSIPPI STATE 7.
11:10 2Q: Teams trade three-and-outs
Mississippi State forces a three-and-out after the punt, but gets pinned back with multiple penalties. An illegal procedure on the punt, then a hold negates a long Kamario Taylor run, then another holding penalty gets declined and the Bulldogs have to punt. OLE MISS 14, MISSISSIPPI STATE 7.
13:10 2Q: Kamario Taylor pass deflected, intercepted
After a 39-yard run by Kamario Taylor gets MSU into Ole Miss territory, a Taylor pass is deflected at the line of scrimmage, than popped up by a Bulldogs running back and intercepted by Ole Miss' Princewill Umanmielen. OLE MISS 14, MISSISSIPPI STATE 7.
14:11 2Q: A rare FG miss from Lucas Carneiro
MSU's defense holds Ole Miss from getting into the end zone, forces a 37-yard field goal from Lucas Carneiro and the usually reliable kicker pushes it left. No good. OLE MISS 14, MISSISSIPPI STATE 7.
END 1Q: Ole Miss 14, Mississippi State 7
The Rebels are on the move again. It'll be 2nd-and-8 from the MSU-21 yard line to start the second quarter.
5:22 1Q: Trinidad Chambliss hits Harrison Wallace III for easy TD
Trinidad Chambliss is 6-for-6 and the Ole Miss offense is cooking. Chambliss hits Harrison Wallace III for a sweet 24-yard connection in the end zone. Rebels regain the lead. Scoreboard may get a workout today. OLE MISS 14, MISSISSIPPI STATE 7.
8:50 1Q: Kamario Taylor introduces himself to Egg Bowl
Well, well, well. The Bulldogs go 97-yards on freshman QB Kamario Taylor's first drive in his first start. Taylor capped the drive with a 22-yard run for a touchdown. Cue the cowbells. OLE MISS 7, MISSISSIPPI STATE 7.
13:05 1Q: 'Kewan Lacy is the Heisman candidate no one is talking about'
On 3rd-and-5, Trinidad Chambliss steps into a throw and hits Harrison Wallace III for 34 yards. Two plays later, Kewan Lacy gets around the corner for a 32-yard touchdown. So much for the Rebels being distracted. OLE MISS 7, MISSISSIPPI STATE 0.
