(The Hill) - President Trump said Thursday he will halt immigration from “all Third World Countries” after two National Guard members were shot in Washington, D.C., earlier this week.

“I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover,” the president said in a lengthy post on his Truth Social platform.

Earlier Thursday, the Trump administration said it would reexamine green cards linked to 19 countries. A June memo from the White House listed 19 countries of concern with entry restrictions: Afghanistan, Burma, Burundi, Chad, Cuba, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Laos, Libya, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Togo, Turkmenistan, Venezuela and Yemen.
