1PHILADELPHIA, PA – A woman was killed Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of North 36th and Market Streets, police said.

The crash occurred around 3:50 p.m. in the city’s 16th District when a 41-year-old female pedestrian was hit while crossing the street.

Medics pronounced the victim dead at 3:38 p.m., according to police.

Investigators said the driver fled the scene following the collision but was later located and taken into custody.

Detectives from the Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division are leading the investigation to determine the circumstances of the crash.
