NEW CASTLE, Ind. (WNDU) - Former South Bend Clay basketball star and Purdue University standout Jaraan Cornell will be posthumously inducted to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame this upcoming March.

According to our reporting partners at the South Bend Tribune , Cornell will be one of 17 inductees in the Class of 2026 .

Cornell hit one of the most iconic shots in Indiana high school basketball history — a 3-pointer to force overtime in the 1994 state title game where Clay beat Valparaiso 93-88 in one of the last championship games in the one-class era. He also scored a team-high 30 points in the game.

Cornell then went on to play at Purdue, where he made All-Big Ten Third Team in 1998 and 1999. According to The Tribune, he finished his four seasons in West Lafayette as the program
