The University of Texas at El Paso housing crunch is getting some attention thanks to approval of a $108 million student housing complex.

The construction approved by the University of Texas System Board of Regents aims to address the high demand for campus housing. UTEP has been at 100% capacity for the last four consecutive years.

“More and more students and families are putting their trust in a UTEP education, and we’re bursting at the seams, as reflected in our recent record enrollment,” UTEP President Heather Wilson said.

The new complex will be located on the north side of Kidd Field. Upon opening in 2028, the university will have 1,500 on-campus beds.
