WEST LAFAYETTE – Maybe Purdue had too much turkey on Thanksgiving.

That would certainly explain the No. 1 Boilermakers' sleepy, sloppy start against a struggling Eastern Illinois team this afternoon at Mackey Arena. Eight minutes into the game, the game was tied after Purdue let the Panthers score 13 points off eight Boiler turnovers in the early going of the game.

The Boilermakers emphatically asserted themselves as the half wore on, but coach Matt Painter will have plenty to critique in the locker room at halftime. At the break, the Boilers are on top 53-28, thanks in part to 10 points and six rebounds from Trey Kaufman-Renn.
