NAPOLEONVILLE, La. (WAFB) - Troopers with the Louisiana State Police are investigating a deadly crash in Assumption Parish.

Officials identified the victim as Lonnie Robinson, 71, of Napoleonville.

The single-vehicle crash reportedly happened shortly after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, on Franklin Avenue near Philospher Street.

According to LSP’s preliminary investigation, Robinson was driving a 2008 Nissan Rogue west on Franklin Street when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle ran off the roadway and hit a residence.

State police said Robinson was seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died.

A standard toxicology sample was collected from Robinson for analysis, officials confirmed.

This is an ongoing investigation.
