A 68-year-old woman was hospitalized after she was elbowed from behind and knocked face-first into a Midtown building during an apparently random Thanksgiving Day attack, police sources said Friday.
The victim was walking along Fifth Ave. near W. 47th St. at about 8:43 p.m. Thursday when a man with a beard and ponytail stepped up behind her and elbowed her in the back, cops said.
The unsuspecting woman was knocked off balance and fell toward the building she was walking past, hitting the façade.
EMS rushed her to Mount Sinai West with deep cuts and scrapes to her face and head.
The man who elbowed her, who was wearing a green jacket, black pants and was carrying a black backpack, ran off.
No arrests have been made.
