FARGO — North Dakota State’s football players took a short break this week for more than Thanksgiving. They were thankful there were no coaching changes.

When head coach Tim Polasek signed a seven-year extension earlier this week, relief was the word of the day around the Bison locker room.

“There was a fear of what if but good thing we don’t have to worry about that right now,” said sophomore receiver Jackson Williams. “I think the future is bright here.”

The immediate future revolves around preparing for the winner of Saturday’s Illinois State at Southeastern Louisiana FCS first-round playoff game. The Bison, who got a first-round bye by virtue of being the No. 1 seed, will host next Saturday at noon at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome in a second-round game.
