DETROIT – Caden Bucholtz grew tired of hearing his father talk about how he was the only one to reach a state championship game.

The Harbor Beach senior quarterback now has the ultimate bragging right in the household, hoisting the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 8 state championship.

“He always threw it in my face,” Bucholtz said. “I always say I’m better than him, but he always says, ’I still made it to the championship, and you didn’t yet.’ I got this hardware that he doesn’t have now.”

Harbor Beach (14-0) defeated Hudson (13-1) 31-20 on Friday at Ford Field, winning its first state championship since 2012.
