NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Lane Kiffin is reportedly out of the sweepstakes for Florida’s head coaching vacancy, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, due to “communication irregularities”.
Kiffin, who is coaching in the Egg Bowl today, will now decide whether he’ll remain at Ole Miss or go to LSU.
Up to this point, Kiffin was considered the Gators’ top target in the search. He’ll make his future known after the matchup with Mississippi State, according to Thamel.
With Kiffin out of their line of sight, Florida is eyeing Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall. Auburn also has interest in Sumrall, Thamel reports.
Sumrall is expected to announce on Sunday whether he will stay at Tulane or pursue other opportunities, ESPN reports.
