MADISON, Wis. -- Ahead of this weekend's snowstorm, the City of Madison laid out its plan for keeping roads in the area clear.

The City of Madison said plows will take to the streets at midnight Friday and will begin circling salt routes during the storm. Those routes cover the main thoroughfares, which are Madison Metro bus routes and roads around hospitals, fire stations, police stations and other important roads.

There are 32 salt routes and one plow will be assigned to each route. The City said it takes roughly three hours to make one circuit of a route, and that time can be impacted by worsening weather.
