A 21-year-old suburban man was arrested and charged with setting his house on fire following a family argument on Thanksgiving, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said, with the family seeing the home "filling with smoke" and the house sustaining major damage.

About 7:30 p.m. Thursday, deputies with the Lake County Sheriff's Department responded to a verbal domestic dispute in the 40100 block of North Lone Oak Road in Beach Park. According to officials, family members said they were upset with relative Erik J. Crump, 21, who they say was "antagonizing and arguing" with others in the home.

Deputies were able to deescalate the situation, officials said, and Crump, who lived at the home, agreed to keep to himself for the remainder of the evening.
