HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WLOX) - It’s the game before the game.

For the 5th year in a row, Picayune returns to the South State title game, facing off against a familiar foe in Hattiesburg in a rematch of last year’s South State Championship which saw the Tigers win, 39-35.

The Tide are looking for payback while also hoping to end their title drought. As for Hub City, the Tigers seek to right the wrongs of last season after falling in the State Championship.

A South State victory doesn’t vegin once begin key factor.

“I mean, obviously [Hattiesburg is] a really good football team,” said Picayune head coach Cody Stogner . They’ve got a lot of great talent over there. The new coach is obviously a great coach.
