CERRITOS —The Valley Christian football team has reached a CIF-SS final for the first time under head coach Brendan Chambers.
The third-year coach said a large portion of the team’s success can be credited to its top two-way players, senior running back/linebacker Cole Hefner and senior receiver/defensive back Oliver Boateng.
“Everybody has a role,” Hefner said. “Everybody has to do their role with 100% every play. I think it’s going to be a dogfight but I like our team in a dogfight every day.”
Hefner has a team-high 103 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in 13 games.
Boateng has a team-high 59 catches for 984 receiving yards and 16 total touchdowns (14 receiving, two rushing).
“It is the essence of high school football, a lot of two-way guys but they love it,” Chambers sai
