OGDENSBURG, New York (WWNY) - Plenty in Ogdensburg hit the ice on Friday for a public skate.

Evan McLear and his siblings, Coleden and Madden, made the most of their admission cost, hitting the ice as soon as they could on Friday.

It’s been a busy Thanksgiving break for Evan.

“I had a hockey game a few days ago, and we won 2-1, so it was a pretty good game,” said McLear.

Now, he’s using ice time to prepare for a game on Saturday in Watertown. With it being the day after Thanksgiving and many cutting loose of responsibilities, like McLear, many chose to spend their day at a public skate in the Richard Lockwood Civic Center.

People of all ages were there, all having their own reasons to lace up. Some might be learning to skate, or maybe perfecting the practice. It could be a place to ha
