Hundreds of older drivers have failed to renew their licences when turning 70, as required by law, over the last three years, a BirminghamLive investigation has found.

Motorists must renew their licences at their 70th birthdays and then every three years after that.

The aim of this is to help ensure any health issues which could impact driving are flagged up.

It comes as the Government is considering tightening these rules by introducing mandatory eyesight tests.
