Cash strapped Solihull Council is embracing the AI revolution as a way to make ‘significant savings’.
The authority has been one of the early adopters of AI through staff using it to write and record notes quicker. But is now moving to the next stage as councils elsewhere have already made millions of pounds of savings.
In a report to the authority’s resources and delivering value scrutiny board officers highlighted examples including Derby City Council, with council officers writing: “Their SMART AI Transformation Programme has generated £7.5m in savings by automating telephone and web queries, freeing staff for complex tasks.”
