Winter is a risky time to spread manure. Extension nutrient management specialist Charlie White and nutrient management program director Robb Meinen explain that you are more likely to lose valuable nutrients to runoff and leaching, and surface waters can easily be contaminated in winter.
If you absolutely must spread manure in the winter season, make sure you closely follow Pennsylvania’s regulations.
