Realtor now hooking up other vets with first homes

When Surprise veteran Austin Hawkins purchased his first home in the North Copper Canyon community, he knew what the first event would be.

Using a VA loan and the Hometown Heroes Discount Program offered by local homebuilder Oakwood Homes to buy the home, Hawkins wanted to celebrate the purchase with a big life milestone.

Three months after moving into the home last December, Hawkins proposed there to his now-fiance, Kelly, after months of planning with both of their parents and his stepsisters.
