England is bracing for a wintry blast, with weather maps showing snow set to fall across a swathe of the country.

According to the latest WXCharts maps, based on MetDesk data, counties including Northumberland, County Durham, Cumbria, North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire are set for snow by 9pm this evening.

Snow has already been falling across north-west Scotland throughout the day and is expected to continue overnight. Tonight's maps show it landing across a vast stretch of the country, including the Highlands and the Grampians, with flurries also possible around Glasgow, Stirling and Perth.

But snow is expected to fall in parts of England as well.
