STONINGTON, Conn. (WFSB) - Part of Route 1 was closed for a serious crash in Stonington on Saturday evening, according to town officials.

The crash happened on Route 1 near North Main Street.

The Town of Stonington said the road was expected to be closed for several hours.

Drivers were asked to seek alternate routes.

There was no word on injuries or what caused the crash.
