FAIRFIELD, Maine — Multiple fire agencies put out an industrial fire involving shredded tires early Saturday in Fairfield.
Fairfield and Benton Emergency Services received reports around 3 a.m. about a possible fire near Industrial Road, according to a social media post from the department.
Responding crews saw a "glow" from Western Avenue, prompting a request for support.
Arriving crews found two large piles of shredded tire chips on fire, the post said. Master streams were used to put out flames before it could reach nearby areas.
Firefighters cleared from the scene about 6:30 a.m.
Support from other fire departments include Clinton, Skowhegan, Winslow, Waterville, and Oakland.
