Folk and blues musician Tim Williams, remembered as a master guitarist, gifted storyteller and a pillar of Calgary’s music community, has died at age 77.
Friends and fellow musicians describe Williams as a highly skilled musician and songwriter, an iconoclast, a brilliant raconteur, a mentor to many and a proud father and grandfather.
Williams was diagnosed with cancer in August and died in hospital on Friday, according to a close friend of the family.

Cindy McLeod, Calgary Blues Festival producer and longtime friend of Williams, said the loss is devastating.
“I’m pretty crushed,” she said. “The whole blues community is feeling the profound loss. He’s left a big void.”
