A doctor who pleaded guilty in connection to actor Matthew Perry’s death was sentenced on Wednesday to serve about 2 1/2 years in prison.
Dr. Salvador Plasencia had pleaded guilty in July to four counts of distributing ketamine. He received the 30-month sentence in a Los Angeles federal courthouse, the L.A. Times reported.
He was taken directly into custody.
In exchange for his guilty plea, prosecutors dropped five other charges — three tied to ketamine distribution and two counts of falsifying records.
Plasencia prescribed ketamine to Perry before his death. The Canadian actor was found dead in his hot tub in October 2023 with the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office ruling the death to be the result of “acute effects of ketamine.”
