CARTHAGE, Mo. — Carthage’s defense and special teams claimed five turnovers and the offense did enough in 40-degree temperatures and gusting winds to make sure the Tigers advanced to the Class 5 football state title game with a 20-8 win over the Cardinal-Ritter Lions Saturday at David Haffner Stadium.

Carthage, 12-1, will take on undefeated and defending Class 5 champion Platt County at 7 p.m. Friday at the home of the Kansas City Chiefs' summer training camp, Spratt Memorial Stadium, on the campus of Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph. ×
