On paper, New Mexico State got better in its second season under coach Tony Sanchez. But when you dig deeper, the Aggies could've been so much more.
Yes, NM State (4-8, 2-6 Conference USA) improved on its win total from 2024. That's a good thing, don't get me wrong. But the Aggies' 2025 season could've been more than just that. They went down to the wire with their opponents at several points this season. More often than not, NM State blew it.
The Aggies played six games decided by one score this season and went 2-4 in them. NM State held its nerve against Tulsa and UTEP , scoring touchdowns in the final moments before earning one last defensive stop. But that didn't happen against Liberty, Missouri State and Kennesaw State, and it didn't happen one last time in the Aggies' final gam
