HOUSTON — A man is dead after a violent crash along the South Sam Houston Parkway near Highway 288 late last night.
Deputies say a sedan and an Amazon commercial truck collided just before 11 p.m.
According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, an Amazon commercial driver ran a red light, striking the sedan. That's when the driver of the car, who deputies say was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and died at the scene.
As for the Amazon truck driver, investigators say he initially claimed he had a yellow light, but dash camera video from the truck showed he had a red light the entire time.
They say it is possible he may have been confused by another nearby set of traffic signals that showed a green light.
