MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — After a highly competitive 21-13 first half, the Martinsburg defense forced a second half shutout to beat University 44-13 in the AAAA Semifinals.
University broke on to the score sheet on special teams with a 30 yard Brady Goodenow field goal early in the second quarter.
Martinsburg made it 14-3 at the 6:12 mark of quarter number 2 with Todd carrying it for a 37 yard score. It was a one play drive after great field position was set up by a Ty Ricketts interception.
University scored their only touchdown soon after with Jack Bryer hitting Glenn Brown on a 38 yard touchdown pass.
The Hawks got within a single point with another Goodenow field goal, this one from 22 yards away with a minute left in the half.
