MISSOULA — Montana and South Dakota State hardly need an introduction to one another on the football field as they'll square off in the FCS playoffs for the third consecutive season.
The Grizzlies lost to the Jackrabbits, 23-3, in the 2023 national title game in Frisco, Texas, as the latter repeated as champions. UM then lost to SDSU, 35-18, in a 2024 second-round playoff game in Brookings, South Dakota.
Perhaps the third time will be the charm for Montana. The third-seeded Grizzlies and 14th-seeded Jackrabbits will face off in a second-round playoff game at noon Saturday in Washington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula.
Montana enters the postseason with an 11-1 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the Big Sky Conference as the Griz finished second in the league standings. They were ranked No. 3
