Syracuse, N.Y. - The Onondaga County Department of Emergency Management will hold a ceremony Sunday dedicating it’s operations center to a sheriff’s deputy killed in the line of duty last year.
The building will be named the Lieutenant Michael Hoosock Emergency Management Center. Hoosock was fatally shot in a standoff in April 2024.
“It’s a great honor for our department, and we really appreciate their work” said Tom Newton, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office.
Newton said Sheriff Toby Shelley, Undersheriff Jeffrey Passino and other officials from the department will attend the event.
Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announced in a news release that he would also attend the event at noon along with members of the Hoosock family.
The center is located at 420 Electronics Par
