John Swinney has met concerned members of one of Scotland’s oldest Highland clans over the planned £10million sale of its historic estate on Skye. The First Minister was “genuinely worried” about the fate of Armadale Castle and the South Sleat countryside , according to campaigners.
Clan Donald members and local residents say they weren’t consulted on the sell-off, announced earlier this year by heritage charity the Clan Donald Lands Trust (CLDT). The castle site includes a heritage museum and gardens. We previously revealed how families with loved ones’ memorials in the grounds haven’t been told what will happen to them.
