It was a close game during the 52 nd Annual Bayou Classic, with just one point separating the Tigers from the Jaguars. With a score of 28-27 Southern University ultimately took the victory.
Fans were hyped inside the Superdome cheering on the HBCU teams during the iconic game that draws in thousands from across the country.
The G-men were in the lead for most of the game, but during the fourth quarter, the Jaguars took over.
The battle between the rival universities isn’t just a tradition for many families. It's an annual event commemorating the rich history and pride both school's share.
And while GSU fans are disappointed about the loss, they are still in good spirits, because the celebration of both HBCUs' cultures holds a deeper meaning.
