The New York Rangers are in wait-and-see mode on one of the top defencemen in the league.
Adam Fox was forced to leave Saturday’s 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning with an upper-body injury in the third period and did not return.
Fox was injured on a hard shoulder-to-shoulder check by Lightning forward Brandon Hagel.
Head coach Mike Sullivan didn’t have much of an update on his star defenceman’s status after the game, aside from saying Fox is still being evaluated.
If he’s out for any period of time, it would be a huge blow to the 13-12-2 Rangers, as Fox has been one of the lone bright spots for the team this season.
With three goals and 23 assists over 27 games this season, Fox is second in scoring by a defenceman behind only Cale Makar.
It could also be a potential blow to the U.
