MORGANTOWN -- The West Virginia football team wrote its own adaptation of the popular Judith Viorst children's book "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day."
The Mountaineers' season finale Saturday afternoon fit the description of the book title. WVU finishes its season 4-8 after a 49-0 shutout loss to Texas Tech at Milan Puskar Stadium.
WVU's loss marked the first time since 2013 that the Mountaineers had been shut out, and it was the first time since 2001 that West Virginia had been blanked at home.
The 49-point margin the largest home loss by West Virginia since 1891.
Everything that the Mountaineers wanted to do to upset No. 7 Texas Tech went sideways and fast, as they gave up 21 points in the first quarter.
